Ramzes’s Story: A Health Turnaround for a Picky Pup with Stomach Problems

Lucie Cook's Alaskan Malamute, Ramzes, was an extremely picky eater with stomach issues. Nom Nom not only improved his health but got him excited about food for the first time in his life.

"I couldn't believe it. After 10 years, he finally found something he liked! Everything got much better since he's on the food."

Lucie Cook adores her 10-year-old Alaskan Malamute, Ramzes, but says he's not the easiest dog around. "He's trouble!" she laughs. "You do not want to go to the vet with him! He acts like it's the end of the world. He's such a baby."

A Sick and Picky Pup

As such, Lucie tries to only take Ramzes to the vet for emergencies. But earlier this year, Ramzes became quite ill. "In May, he started vomiting. It was terrible. The vomiting was freaking me out because going to the vet was a painful thing," says Lucie.

Lucie did manage to get Ramzes to the vet, who recommended cooking for the picky pup to help his gastrointestinal issues. She was willing to try, but was worried because Ramzes has always been an incredibly picky eater.

"All his life, I've had a problem with the food," she says. "He won't eat kibble, even if I put cheese on top. I've tried freeze-dried food with cans on top. He never ate more than two or three times a week, total."

But Lucie decided to try anyway, and Ramzes's stomach issues did improve. However, after a few months, she was exhausted from the work of cooking every day. And on top of that, she was concerned that her beloved dog wasn't getting all the nutrients she knew he needed. "I was making cooked rice and chicken, or turkey, rice, and carrots, and he got better, but I knew I the food I was making didn't have all the vitamins and minerals he needed."

Happier, Healthier, and Excited to Eat

So she set out to find a better solution, and came across Nom Nom. She started with a Sampler Pack and was shocked to see how much Ramzes loved the food, as well as the beef jerky treats.

"I couldn't believe it," Lucie says. "I thought he was super picky and wouldn't eat anything! Finally, this worked... after 10 years, he finally found something he liked! He crashed the bowl, he LOVED it."

"He started eating frequently, and he'd never eaten both in the morning and evening before in his whole life. And the benefits Ramzes has experienced have been huge. "He stopped throwing up, and lost weight, too! Despite not eating much of his previous food, he was overweight, and the vet wasn't happy. He weighs 100 lbs now. He was 120 before. His weight is awesome now. His coat is pretty and fluffy and he smells good. He was experiencing dry brown flakes on his skin before, and they're gone now. Everything got much better since he's on the food. It's sent every 2 weeks, so I don't have to worry about anything."

"For his age, it's amazing. All his buddies are gone. People are amazed, they don't guess his age. He's so fluffy, he's so good looking. I'm very happy. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't tried."
