Determining a dog's healthy weight is not as easy as looking at a chart of average age and breed weights (though that can give you a place to start). As a rule of thumb, a dog at a healthy weight should have a visible waist when you look at them from the side and from above, though we encourage you to talk to your veterinarian when determining an exact number.

Your dog may be temporarily placed on a bland diet by your veterinarian. How does this factor into your typical NomNomNow feeding routine? After a fasting period of about 12 to 24 hours, you can reintroduce NomNomNow by mixing half of a meal with equal portions rice (or another gentle carbohydrate).

That's why we recommend giving your dog half Nom Nom and half their current food for a week and gradually working your way up to full portions. So even if they beg, please stick to the transition plan, and know that they only want more because of the delicious flavor.

The NomNomNutrient Mix has been carefully designed for the nutrient composition of ingredients in each recipe, as well as for the different life stages of your dog. These nutrients are the same as those found naturally within foods.

There are one or two forms of calcium in our home-cooked dog food recipes - dicalcium phosphate and calcium carbonate. While other dog foods may utilize bone meal as a source of calcium, the danger is that it could contain heavy metals and other contaminants.

There is a carefully crafted blend of oils in many of the fresh dog food recipes at Nom Nom, as well as the fats in animal protein. The fats found in our recipes are primarily saturated fats, which dogs tolerate very well; they don't have the same issues that humans do with saturated fats, while also being able to reap great benefits.
